Padang Hiliran is a new commercial centre of Kuala Terengganu. It was once paddy fields and later in 1980's, it was converted into shopping and institutional use. Padang Hiliran is surrounded by villages of Hiliran, Chabang Tiga, Bukit Besar and Bukit Kechil.
Mydin Mall the focus of shoppers is always congested with people.
Now it has many government offices, Terengganu Trade Centre, Planetarium, State Public Library, public housing, weekend market, and shopping complexes (Mydin Mall and Giant Hypermarkets). With the addition of Mydin Mall and Giant, this area is always full of people. These shopping malls had attracted visitors or shoppers from various areas of Terengganu.
Terengganu Trade centre is also the venue of product exhibition and has been conducting occasional trade fairs.
