When you talk about Marang town, where is it located? Most people nowadays forget that Marang town was located at its river mouth. That was its initial development. Then it spreads to the main road (Dungun-Kuala Terengganu road). Then it spread further to Sungai Kerak.
What I am going to tell you is the old Marang town which is at the river mouth. Most of the old houses were demolished and new buildings are built. Marang has a new market, and a few offices are there. The park is nice and scenic. I found this little place calm especially when you visit this place in the morning. You can not find this scenery in other parts of Malaysia. This is something unique.

This little town can not be seen from the main road. You have to go inside in order to view or see it. If you are driving from Kuala Terengganu to Dungun, you have to turn left when you reach Marang Police Station. Go to Kampong Kijing, and there you are, you can see the scenery that I was telling you. Move on until you see the linear park, Seri Malaysia Hotel, a few chalets, food courts by the river, the market, the hall, the jetty and lastly the Fishing landing area. That is the end of the road. You can either u-turn and turn left following road to the hill-top mosque or turn the way you come from. Happy travelling.
