Kuala Besut: A Check-in Point for Perhentian Islands

Kuala Besut  is traditionally a fishing village and now becomes a small town by itself due to economic development. It has a tourist jetty as well as a fish landing jetty on the other side of the river. Located near the Besut river mouth, Kuala Besut is the gate way to Perhentian Islands. Tourism has bring employment to some of the residents here especially in food catering, boat service and accommodation.
Fast boat ferries the tourists to the island at the river mouth.

The boats are parked at the river bank near the tourist jetty.

The town has developed organically and the latest addition is the food court at the sea side. Budget hotels and private car parking areas for rental are mushrooming too. Kuala Besut supplies some of the needs of the residents and tourists that stay on those islands.

If you visit Kuala Besut, you can take a bus or taxi from Kuala Terengganu. However, Kuala Besut is closer to Kota Bharu, the capital of Kelantan. There is also  bus service from Kuala Bharu or Pasir Puteh to Kuala Besut. Happy travelling.
